Operational guidance for Life Cycle Assessment studies of the Energy Efficient Buildings Initiative (EeBGuide) is a European Commission funded project aiming to produce expert guidance for conducting Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies for energy-efficient buildings and building products under the framework of Energy Efficient Building (EeB) Initiative. The EeBGuide guidance document will provide a common methodology supporting reliable assessment and comparison of performance of new energy efficiency measures. It will support LCA practitioners in industry and research.
In order to ensure acceptance of LCA practitioners, EeBGuide is developed with a strong focus on applicability. Therefore, stakeholders and LCA experts were involved from the beginning, describing questions and problems that usually appear while conducting a LCA study.
The critical questions and problems were collected and documented. Due to the high interest from LCA practitioners those questions and problems were further explained and combined with solution approaches. The documentation was rated for relevance by internal and external experts and amended for missing aspects. An additional workshop with European experts and a public consultation with industry partners provided feedback on applicability.
The final EeB Guidance document will be accessible as a web-based interactive document with filter functions to facilitate its handling. It will also provide links to further detailed information sources, training materials or reporting templates.
